McFadden Could Slip to Cowboys

Will be interesting to see what Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones does when Darren McFadden starts sliding down the draft board. If the skilled running back slips to #7 I would expect the Cowboys to give up their two first round picks for the Patriots pick.

McFadden would be a great addition for Dallas, even though they have Marion Barber in the fold. It would be an outstanding 1-2 punch and give the Cowboys another playmaker on offense.
It's no secret Jones, an Arkansas alum, is enamored with McFadden and getting the Arkansas star would be a steal.

If Dallas doesn't make a serious run at free agent Warrick Dunn it will be very telling. Dunn would be the perfect compliment to Barber, so if the Cowboys pass on Dunn it's probably because they are hoping McFadden slides right into their lap!!

  1. Well, I certainly would love to see the cowboys secure McFadden, if they can do so without parting with MBIII. It seems fairly unlikely, from what I am reading, that they will be able to secure a high enough draft pick without giving something besides the two late first round picks. It would be nice if they could send maybe something less than MBIII plus the 2 first round picks, and still secure the pick to get McFadden. Options could be something like: 2first round picks plus Marcus Spears, or 2 first round picks plus Chris Canty, or even 2 first round picks plus a third this year or even next year. Really we have other options besides sending a pro-bowl runnning back packing and relying entirely on an unproven (pro) McFadden to carry the full load. Additional concerns about moving all these picks and/or players is compounded by the fact that Dallas really is in desperate need of at least 1 or 2 new defensive backs (CB) and definately needs to add a wide receiver to the mix, since Glenn may not be capable of being the Terry Glenn of old, and TO is not only getting old but is in the final year of his contract with the cowboys. It will be interesting to see what route Jerry takes. My plan is to stay put, take the other Arkansas running back Felix Jones and fill another need with the other pick.
