It's the most wonderful time of year!

I know what you're thinking, "The SuperBowl just ended. Football is over now!"  Sure, you may be right, but to me today is the day football season officially begins.

Fully one third of football fans probably feel that way.  You Patriots or Colts fans probably have no idea what I am talking about.  However, fans of the Lions and Browns are probably with me.

Today, all are equal. Everyone is 0-0. There are moves to be made, coaches to hire and systems to install. As a Raiders fan, today, we are as good and functional as everyone else.  Anything can happen.

Even though it is snowing in Pennsylvnia, and only mid February, the NFL part of my soul feels spring.  The sun is out, the birds are singing and the snow melts over the barren ground of last season.  Today is when teams start sowing the seed of hope, hoping for a healthy crop of victory.

Remember, unless you are a Saints fan, your team ended the year a loser. So hold your heads high Chiefs, Skins and 'Hawks fans.  Today, we are all equals.
