LOUISVILLE, KY (Nov. 1, 2010) - Five players from across the US, including a pair of first-timers, have been selected "Paul Hornung's Most Versatile Performances of the Week" it was announced Monday by Paul Hornung and the Louisville Sports Commission. Newcomers are Auburn DB Demond Washington and Oregon State whizz Jacquizz Rodgers. Repeat honorees are East Carolina WR Dwayne Harris, Kentucky all-purpose back Randall Cobb and Tulsa WR and return specialist Damaris Johnson.
The weekly selections highlight elite performances from the previous week in college football that display the same versatility on the field as the legendary Paul Hornung.
Week Nine Honorees:
- Auburn's Demond Washington had five kick returns for 176 yards including a 95-yard return for touchdown late in the first half of a 51-31 win over Ole Miss on Oct. 30. Washington also recorded an interception near the goal line. He finished with six tackles and a deflected pass.
- East Carolina's Dwayne Harris had 289 all-purpose yards in a 49-35 loss to Central Florida on Oct. 30 in Orlando. Harris had five kick returns for 99 yards, including a long of 47 yards, two carries for 49 yards, including a long of 44 yards, and nine catches for 146 yards and a touchdown.
- Kentucky's Randall Cobb had 292 all-purpose yards in a 24-17 loss to Mississippi State on Oct. 30 in Starkville. Cobb had 12 catches for 171 yards and one touchdown, five carries for 11 yards and 111 kick-off return yards on five returns. He also returned punts and was perfect as the holder for field goals and extra points.
- Oregon State's Jacquizz Rodgers had 22 carries for 119 yards and three touchdowns, three receptions for 11 yards and completed one pass for an 11-yard touchdown for the Beavers first score of the game in a 35-7 win over California on Oct. 30.
- Tulsa's Damaris Johnson ran the ball six times for 36 yards and caught four passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in a 28-27 win over Notre Dame on Oct. 30 in South Bend. Johnson returned three punts for 72 yards, including a 59 yard touchdown return and he also returned two kicks for 54 yards in the win. Johnson finished his day with 208 total yards.

Paul Hornung Award
Created by the Louisville Sports Commission, the Paul Hornung Award is designed to recognize versatile, high-level performers in major college football and help preserve the legacy of one of Kentucky's best known athletes. A panel of experts will select the inaugural winner in early January 2011; the votes will be tabulated by Dean Dorton Allen Ford. The winner will be honored at the Paul Hornung Award Banquet presented by Jewish Sports Medicine January 25 at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville. Hornung is considered by many the best all-around player in the history of college and pro football. He won the 1956 Heisman Trophy at quarterback for Notre Dame and was the No. 1 pick in the 1957 NFL draft. He played every position in the backfield during his career with the Irish, where he also punted, kicked, returned kicks and played defensive back and was a multi-threat offensive back and prolific kicker in the pros. He was a member of four NFL championship teams as an all-pro halfback for the Green Bay Packers and led the NFL in scoring 1959-60-61, set the single season scoring record in 1960 with 176 points and was named League MVP following the 1961 season. Legendary Packers Coach Vince Lombardi called Hornung, "The most versatile man ever to play the game." Paul is a member of the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame and the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and resides in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
