My Two Cents

English: Derek Dooley at the Orange and White ...
Everyone so often I like to check in with my two cents on recent moves in college and pro football.

I think it was a wise move at this stage for the Philadelphia Eagles to resign Mike Vick to a one year deal and see how he adjust to the new system.   The thing I am not 100% sure if it was a better move for Philly or for the other NFC East teams.

Saw reports the NY Giants restructured the deal with Terrell Thomas.  I hope that guy can finally stay healthy.  I am not sure he'll ever get close to the player he was when he was drafted.

Something tells me guys like Chris Canty, George Wilson and Nick Barnett won't be out of work very long in the NFL.  I would take all three on my roster and expect them with new teams well before free agency starts.

Read on twitter that Matt Barkley grades out by one scout with Kellen Moore.  Seriously?  From the likely number 2 pick last year to undrafted.  Can't see that happening.

Dallas Cowboys should be worried with Rob Ryan landing in New Orleans if they can clear cap space the over-rated Anthony Spencer likely is high on their radar.

This would be risky for the Raiders but the payoff could be great.

I am not sold on Monte Kiffin in Dallas especially with the use of the pistol, I am a big fan of the hiring of both Derek Dooley and Gary Brown.   I especially like the Derek Dooley addition.  Check out his resume if he wasn't stuck cleaning up after Monte's boy things could have been different at Tennessee.  Remember Bruce Arians once bombed as a college coach and landed pretty well.

Another nice move this off-season was the hiring by Buffalo of Mike Pettine and the quick hiring of Dan Quinn to take over their defense in Seattle.   I wonder how many Gators join the Seahawks in April.

With everyone knowing Alex Smith is leaving San Fransisco my guess for his landing is Cleveland.  Remember before Jim Harabaugh worked with him the best numbers he put up where with Norv Turner the new OC in Cleveland.

I think everyone would love to trade down in the draft for more picks but you have to have a trading partner.  and sometimes you can get a little to pretty.   Fans and teams should plan as if their team is staying right where they are in the draft.

Is anyone really surprised that a report paid for by the Paterno family comes out and is different that the Freeh Report?  Seriously??

Well check back again as the off-season continues I will share my views, thoughts and ideas of what lies ahead for all our teams.   Follow me on twitter at @ftballdialogue
