Train Wreck in Atlanta...What could have been?

My hat is off to Arthur Blank for trying to fix the situation but from my estimation he failed miserably. You keep Rich McKay around? The guy who along with Bye-bye Bobby decide to trade Matt Schaub when Mike Vick is facing indictment. You then bring in an inexperienced GM from the Pats in Tom Dimitroff and keep McKay hovering around to have a large shadow on his decision. Then you hire Mike Smith? Are you serious? Come on. All you did was give McKay a pass for poor decisions and hired a few puppets for him. I would take the new GM a lot more serious if McKay no longer had keys to the team.

What could you have done instead?

Well here is just a rough idea of what may have won fans over and give the team the feel that they are headed in the right direction.

Could have been new to Atlanta in 2008 :

Team President: Ray Anderson (a former Falcons VP currently in the league office)
GM: Tom Heckert
Head Coach: Mike Singletary
Offensive Coordinator: Norm Chow
Defensive Coordinator: Ron Rivera (Singletary teammate)

Maybe in 2011 when you have to do it again you'll follow this blueprint.
