Maybe a work stoppage wouldn't be all bad.

I don't want to be without football, and neither do you.  However, if the NFL decides to stop playing, there is an upside.

The fledgling UFL would dance like crazed monkeys, if the big dog stayed on the porch.  How many college players are coming out that want to play?  How much top tier talent will need a home?  How many current NFL players whose contracts expire, and want to play?

I have said for years that there needs to be a true minor league system.  I have a whole post on it coming.  If the NFL locks players out, there will still be football.  It will still be good, don't kid yourself.  So, the NFL may be forced to confront fan anger and a new league that ain't so bad.

From a PR standpoint alone, they may need to buy the UFL as a farm system. Then they can say, "we care about the fans.  Look! Spring football!"

I hope there is no lockout, but if there is, ill be the guy with the glass half full of football.
